The Yankee Peddler Festival has been synonymous with unmatched excellence as a family event that blends art, crafting, great food and entertainment. It has been successful because of the quality of its artists, crafters, entertainers and foods.
It has also been so successful because it is so authentic, permitting visitors to truly step back into the colonial and pioneer world to experience the essence of simplicity, beauty and old-fashioned fun.
Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in a second "world" that will coexist with the traditional Yankee Peddlers. The world of "today's" Yankee Peddler will be populated by contemporary artists, crafters and entertainers. Modern arts and crafts, such as, photography, contemporary jewelry and pottery will now be part of the Festival.
Just as their colonial counterparts will continue to do, the contemporary artists and crafters will demonstrate how they transform raw materials into inspired finished pieces. The Festival organizers promise that this new world of today's Yankee Peddler will be as relaxed, easy-going, pleasant and informative as its parallel colonial world.

Excellence is the mark of the over 300 craftspeople who will share in the festive spirit.
Primitive slate, rock and tole painters will instill magical life into so many objects, bird baths out of stone, ornaments from eggs, pictures out of feathers. Paper will become games in the hands of some craftspeople, and beautifully-inscribed messages in those of the calligrapher.
What grows in the garden and woods will provide you with a new genius for your home: wreaths and dried arrangements, caned chairs, hearth brooms, woven baskets, even herbs to relax you in your hot bath.
Spinners, weavers and quilters will craft new covers to snuggle up in during the winter months of these cool times.
Pewter cups and candle holders and pierced tinware for the table and mantle will be sculptured out of metal, and candle makers will put scented candles in those holders. Etching will put intricate metal figures and designs on the walls. And blacksmiths and ferriers will tap out elegant metal utensils on their anvils.

The whole family can see how shoes were made by the colonial shoemaker. And gemstones will be something new in the hands of the lapidary specialists.
Even the ground we walk on will be translated by artists who are sharing their life and skills with you. They will make hand-wrought pottery, sometimes even with your aid.
Pride and skill marked the work of the pioneer men and women. Starting out with little more than a simple spirit, they created and fashioned an intimate life out of nature's bounty. Their skills and talents were finely-honed.
The master craftspeople who will join the Yankee Peddler Festival to share their wares with you have had a couple centuries to perfect these amazing and creative skills. And at the Festival, they will demonstrate not only their final wares, but also the very act of creativity by which they fashion their delicate and fine pieces from the basic natural elements.
